Rainbow America is an ongoing documentary series exploring the Queer Geography of the United States. Our goal is to talk to a varied spectrum of people in all areas of the country. We hope to reach audiences young and old, straight and queer, across the country and internationally, to reveal the truth about how people from all walks of life come to terms with their sexual orientation.

The horizon stretches out in front of the large and robust RV as our four intrepid travelers cross over the next state line, reflecting on where they were and anticipating where they're going. The music plays softly as Johnny steers the vehicle towards the sunset. In the back, a traveler picked up along the way shares his experiences with Lori and Fae. Abbie silently researches the next stop on the trip, making sure that we don't stray too far from our journey itinerary.

Follow four unique individuals as we explore and examine the Queer geography of the USA. Everyone knows about San Francisco and South Beach, but what about the little towns in-between; in the endless expanse of the Great Plains, the rough terrain of the Rockies and the deserts of the Southwest. In this documentary, we plan to visit the big cities, the small towns, the rural communities, and suburbia to discover the changing face of Queer America.

Geography and location play an important role in living as a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgendered (LGBT) person. When we started researching, our feeling was that life in Middle America was simply different from life in San Francisco or New York - places that have a visible and prominent Queer presence. But the experience of being Queer can differ incredibly in a distance of only 50 miles.

As we travel cross-country, each of us takes our perspectives with us: Lori is a photographer concentrating on gender issues and suburban America; Fae is a performance artist chronicling his transition from female to male; Abbie is a writer with her Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology looking to understand the good intentions that everyone has inherent in them; and Johnny is the filmmaker directing this expedition. All of our travelers embody a different hue of the LBGT rainbow. Lori is a Lesbian, Abbie is Bisexual, Johnny is Gay and Fae is Transgendered (FTM). Together we intend to interview a variety of individuals, from runaways to married couples, hoping to learn more about the faces of today's Queer community and more about each other.
